The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is the administrative component of the Missouri State Board of Education, and contains a wealth of material for MIssouri teachers. Take some time to get to know this site; you will find in-depth information on school systems and many other items of interest.

  • A to Z Teacher Stuff
    Thousands of lesson plans, ideas, classroom management tips, and more can be found here. This site is run by a former Missouri State University Elementary Education student, who developed it using the resources she found during her coursework here.

Find Educator Resources with Lesson Plan and Activity Ideas

for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers

Go to: http://library.missouristate.edu

 

Enter a term into the keyword search screen. Try toddler* and activit* to find activities for toddlers or infant* and activit* to find activities for infants.  Try preschool* and activit* to find activities for preschoolers. Try music and activit* to find movement and activity songs.  You can also add a term such as "frogs" to further narrow your search.

 

When the results come up, click on the blue "Modify Search" icon near the top of the screen.

Scroll down to the “Specific Library Location” drop-down box to highlight "MSU-Meyer Curriculum." Click "Submit".

Browse through results; click on a title for more information on that item.

Find Activity Ideas Online

  • The Incredible Art Department
    Find ideas for art projects by grade level, medium, or subject. Not all of the early childhood plans have assessments, but the instructions are good.

  • The Literacy Center
    This site “aims to provide safe learning activities for parents and teachers to share with young children. It follows a modified Montessori approach to teaching reading. As a pre-reading and early reading curriculum, it assumes that each online lesson will be supported by appropriate offline instruction, either at home or in school.”

  • PE Central
    Packed with lesson plans and activity ideas for physical education!

  • Pre-K Pages
    This site includes activity ideas sorted by subject and includes tips and parent communication templates.

  • PreKinders
    Resources for Pre-K teachers. This site is organized by subject and theme and includes information about assessment and using centers in the classroom.

  • Preschool Express
    This free site has great activities for toddlers (1-3) and preschoolers (3-5). It is produced by Jean Warren, previous owner of Totline Publications and author of many popular books, such as Theme-a-saurus and the Piggyback Song books.

  • Racing to Read
    Click on topics in the left column to get age-appropriate books, songs, and activities for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Sponsored by the Springfield-Greene County Library District, this is an excellent, regularly updated resource.

  • Reading Is Fundamental Literacy Center
    Use the drop-down Resources button on the top left to find lesson plans, videos, and more.
