For a frail and scared young boy, photography becomes the way out of Rio de Janeiro's crime-ridden "City of God" slum.

Yesterday (Zulu, 2004) - drama/indie film

A South African village woman (Yesterday) discovers she has AIDS. Her two goals become to travel to Johannesburg to deliver the news to her laborer husband, and to live long enough to see her young daughter start school.

Pan's Labyrinth (Spanish, 2006) - fantasy/war

Directed by Guillermo del Toro (Blade II, Hellboy), this film uses fairy tale and mythology to tell the story of a young girl who enters a mysterious labyrinth and finds herself at the center of a battle between Good and Evil.

Coco & Igor Stravinsky (French, 2009) romance/drama

The film opens with a riveting recreation of The Rite of Spring premiere in Paris, which Coco Chanel attended. Seven years later, she and Stravinsky meet again -- he is now near penniless and living in exile with his family.
