Newspapers are considered primary sources because they are often the first official record of events. They also often carry obituaries, birth announcements, and information about other anniversaries.
Newspaper Source provides full-text coverage for 40 national (U.S.) and international newspapers, including Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Times (London), Toronto Star, etc. The database also contains selective full-text for more than 30 regional (U.S.) newspapers.
Nexis Uni is an interdisciplinary, full-text database of over fifteen thousand news, business, legal, and biographical sources. The "news" section includes over 350 newspapers, 300 magazines and journals, 600 newsletters, wire services, transcripts of broadcasts, and nearly 300 college/university papers.
The State Historical Society of Missouri has over 56,000 reels of newspaper on micofilm available to researchers. Titles can be browsed by county or town. Reels of microfilm can be requested for delivery to Meyer Library Special Collections for use.
This index is part of the Springfield-Greene County Public Library's Ozark News and Historical Index, which indexes Springfield newspapers (1867-2002; 2009-present) and provides selected topical indexing to Springfield Business Journal (1995; 1998-present), Ozarks Periodical Index (1988-present), & regional publications and sources.
