Meyer Library is more than just a building with books—it’s a hub for learning, connection, and support. At its core, a university library is designed to help you succeed in your classes by giving you access to:
Resources like books, scholarly journals, eBooks, databases, and more
Technology including computers, printers, scanners, and items you can borrow (like laptops or phone chargers)
Spaces for individual or group study, collaboration, and even relaxation
People—librarians, staff, and peer mentors—who are here to answer your questions and help with research, citations, and tech tools
Whether you’re writing your first research paper, need a quiet place to focus, or just want to know where to print your assignment, Meyer Library is here to help.
Great question! If you’ve only used your high school or local public library before, Meyer Library may feel a little different at first. Here are some key differences:
| High School / Public Library | University Library (Meyer Library) |
|---|---|
| Focuses on general interest or leisure reading | Focuses on academic and research materials |
| Mostly physical books and media | Includes many online resources (databases, eBooks, articles) |
| Staff can help with basic questions | Librarians specialize in research and academic support |
|
|
|
| Great for casual visits |
Designed to support college-level coursework and learning |
But don’t worry—you don’t have to figure it all out alone. You don’t need to “know” how to use the library before you walk in. We’re here to guide you.
๐ Where is Meyer Library located?
We’re right in the heart of campus--We’re just north of the fountain, across from Roy Blunt Hall.
๐ What are the library’s hours?
Hours vary during the semester, but we’re usually open late (until midnight or later) most weekdays. Check the Library Hours page for the latest schedule.
โ Can I bring coffee or snacks into the library?
Yes! Drinks with lids and snacks are welcome. Just be respectful and clean up after yourself.
๐งพ Do I need a library card?
No separate card needed—your BearPass ID is your library card. You’ll use it to check out items and log into library computers.
๐ป Can I borrow a laptop or other equipment?
Yes! Visit the Information Desk on the main level to borrow laptops, phone chargers, calculators, headphones, and more.
๐จ๏ธ How do I print in the library?
You can print from any library computer or wirelessly from your own device. Printing costs are automatically deducted from your BearPrint balance.
๐ How many books can I check out?
Undergraduate students can check out as many books as you can carry (seriously, no real limit on general collection books). Books in the general collection check out until the end of the semester and can usually be renewed.
๐ง I’ve never done college-level research. Can someone help me?
Absolutely. Research can be tricky at first—but we’re here to help. You can 'Ask a Librarian'!
