Missouri A&OER Conference Code of Conduct
Purpose of the Event
The Missouri Affordable and Open Educational Resources Conference is an annual opportunity for faculty, staff, instructional designers, librarians, students, advocates, and others from around the state to gather, share expertise, and learn from one another on topics surrounding open educational resources, open practice and pedagogy, and the affordability of course materials.

The Missouri A&OER Conference Planning Committee is committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe these values are essential to creating effective learning environments and enhance the value of the work done within the OER community. As such, we strive to provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that is free from harassment for all participants regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic status.
Expectations for Participants
This Code of Conduct applies to all conference participants, including the planning committee, attendees, speakers, proposal authors, sponsors, volunteers, reviewers, and vendors. It also applies to all aspects of symposium activities where individuals’ behavior impacts the ability of others to participate. This includes symposium sessions, social events, planning meetings, informal side meetings associated with the symposium, and events within the virtual symposium platform.
Participants are expected to:
Unacceptable behaviors include: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning speech or actions by any participant.
Harassment includes: harmful or prejudicial verbal or written comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability; use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces (including presentation slides); deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Reporting Violations of the Code of Conduct
Violations of the Code of Conduct can be reported to, Tracy Stout, chair of the Conference Planning Committee. Please include a detailed description of the incident, including any relevant documentation or publicly available links, and the identity of the individual(s) committing the violation. A committee member will follow up with you if additional information is required. To report anonymously, please submit information here.
The Committee will review and document reports promptly and appropriate action will be taken to resolve any incidents or disagreements discreetly and respectfully.
